Special feature in the Burlington Free Press

We had a great article in the Burlington Free Press this week about our winter camps and a Q&A with Teresa! Check it out!

Holiday break fun at the Davis Studio in Burlington

"A mermaid, a big-eyed orange monster and a game involving water pipes are just a few of the creations children came up with at a holiday break art camp at Davis Studio. Diana Cilenti taught a Monster Madness workshop, Wylie Garcia taught doll making, and Teresa Davis taught board game design.

We spoke with Teresa Davis on Dec. 29:

How long have you been holding workshops like these at your studio?
Davis Studio has been holding a variety of school vacation camps and workshops for the past six years. Families look for engaging activities for their children when school is not in session, and we strive to offer a few options to match students’ interests. Usually, the theme ideas for the camps and workshops come from the teachers on our staff who may have a strong area of interest. Also, we often like to consider themes that inspired us or were interesting to us as children. Additionally, some of our best ideas have come from asking our students for suggestions for future classes or camps. The students who participate get to create their projects in a group atmosphere which is inspiring for all involved. Our workshops conclude with a reception where all finished work is presented. The end results highlight each student’s unique creativity and individual style.

Why are you so passionate about art, creation and the like?
I have seen how life-changing and truly enriching a great art experience can be for students no matter their age or ability. It allows them an opportunity to make choices and decisions while exploring possibilities. Through art, one can learn to solve problems and to realize that most problems have more than one solution. It is a privilege to support someone on their creative adventure. Creating art gives a person a tremendous amount of self-satisfaction and feeling of accomplishment.

What are the upcoming events at your studio?
We are enrolling for our winter classes starting the first week in January. Class offerings include, Get Creative with Clay, Mixed Media Painting, Fashion Illustration, Comic Book Art, Old Master’s Drawing Techniques, Funky Quilts and many more. We will have two school vacation camps in February, Art Extravaganza and Little Mermaid Theater Camp. Davis Studio offers classes for age 3 through adult so there is something for everyone.
