Skits, Spoofs & Mockumentaries
ages 8 - 14
5 day camp

Cost: $300
Tap into your humor and creativity to write, act and produce humorous skits, spoofs or "mockumentaries." Team up with others for a comedy sketch. Spoof well known movies such as "Star Wars" or "Twilight." Invent crazy characters to interview for a fake newscast or "Mockumentary." You will be able to create the set, props, and costumes for your show. The performance will be filmed and each student will receive a DVD.

Van Gogh Starry Night Camp

ages 6 - 13

Taking our inspiration from the amazing work of Vincent Van Gogh you will paint two acrylic paintings on canvas. (Choose from a Landscape, Flower, or Portrait). Learn about color mixing and try out Vincent's unique pallet of colors. Try your hand at "hatching" to add tremendous texture to your work. In addition we will make a wide variety of interesting art pieces using several types of media. Explore print-making, use fabric paint on a "Starry Night" pillow case, create your own unique three dimensional scenes using materials such as fabric, wood and found materials and much more.
Tree House Architecture

ages 8 - 14

In this camp you will develop your ideas, plans and drawings for your fantasy tree house. We will take inspiration from fabulous tree house architecture and other interesting architecture from around the world. You will be able to compete a small model tree house in great detail. Focus on both the exterior and interior. Tree houses can be space age and futuristic or more like a house for a garden fairy. What features will your tree house have? Perhaps you'll design a mote, a swing, stained glass windows, an elevator, a moon roof? Your imagination can go wild in this terrific hands-on camp.

Fun with Clay
(ages 6 - 12)

Explore the exciting possibilities of working with clay. You will learn the basics of hand building and will make several interesting and useful projects such as an animal shaped pinch pot, an original slab-built plate or tray, a customized mug or bowl. Students can get creative and make fun and interesting objects like ice cream cones, fish sculptures, palm tree islands, cartoon character sculptures and more. Stop Motion Animation / Movie Making

Create movies where Lego blocks, toys and other objects appear to move and "build" themselves. Learn to use computer software to create stop-action, animated mini-movies. If you can imagine it moving, you can animate it. Learn to add music or sound effects to your movie. Final movies will be placed on youtube to share with family and friends. Make Friends with your Sewing Machine

Learn how to use a sewing machine while making several fun projects. (You can use one of our machines, or bring in your own.) We will learn sewing machine basics like how to thread the machine, fill a bobbin, etc. You will also learn to put in a zipper, make buttonholes and much more. We will make a variety of projects while we learn sewing techniques. Explore the rich culture of ancient Egypt and create a wonderful array of Egyptian inspired art. Make an elaborate painting on papyrus, write in Hieroglyphics on stone or slate, create a cartouche, make a hand painted Egyptian inspired tunic, and then consider completing your costume with a collar, bracelet and an amulet. Mapping the World through Art

Create a handmade map that is geographically accurate as well as visually appealing. Each map will be a unique work of art. Your map may contain all the continents or you can focus on one continent in particular. In addition you will be able to complete two art projects inspired by art from any part of the world you choose. Examples include, Gargoyle masks from Europe, scrolls with Chinese brush painted images from Asia, or a gourd inked with designs from Maori tattoo artists from Oceana. REGISTER NOW>>

Become the ultimate artsy recycler. Bring your old items to upcycle (or we can provide some raw materials). We will also provide sewing machine guidance and our expertise in upcycle design. Instructor Claudia Venon, a local fashion designer who has her own clothing line, will share tips and tricks to create your own sophisticated designer fashions. You will learn how to customize your wardrobe by adding interesting details and embellishments to basic t-shirts and jeans to make them stylish, one of a kind art pieces. We will provide each student with up to three t-shirts. Learn various techniques such as printing, appliquing, embroidering and more to create fun accents. One day we will be working to photograph portraits and high fashion, on another day, we will be on the hunt for the latest around the town shot for our Newsflash magazine, or maybe will try food photography for a restaurant review! You will learn the basics of how to take funtastic images with your digital camera. You may also want to get wacky and crazy in front of the lens. Together we will create numerous fabulous images and add some silly text to create our very own color magazine. If you are passionate about exploring your art in depth, this class will provide you with studio time and support. You will focus on a particular category of art of your choice, select your materials, and produce several quality pieces. You'll write an artist's statement and have the opportunity to show your work in Davis Studio or another public venue. Six week class (no reception, but invited to display work at Art Hop, in September) Note: This is an-going class. Write and Illustrate a Book

Do you have an idea for a children's book? How about a family story you wish to record as a gift for your children or grandchildren? In this class you will be supported in bringing your book to completion. You will be offered support and editing feedback on your text. Then, even if you feel you don't have strong art skills, we will help you find ways to "illustrate" your manuscript. You will be able to choose from a wide variety of art materials for your book, (acrylic, watercolor, pastels, pen & ink, printmaking, paper or fabric collage, etc.) Your original book will be color-copied and bound with beautiful papers or fabrics and hand stitching.
